Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement

CURE connects the dots among UO’s three fundamental priorities. By offering undergraduates outstanding research opportunities, the Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE) brings together institutional priorities of research excellence, enhancing student access & success, and enriching the undergraduate experience. CURE supports students in all eight undergraduate colleges at UO, taking a broad definition of research that includes scholarship and creative work in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities.

Undergraduate Research Symposium

The Ninth Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium hosted 513 undergraduates engaged in original research, creative work, and community-based projects from over 75 majors, 21 minors, and eight colleges in the Erb Memorial Union and Science Library Visualization Lab for a day of oral and poster presentations, creative work sessions, Academic Residential Community presentations and a new Data Stories presentation format! The Undergraduate Research Symposium acknowledges the 290 faculty mentors who sponsored the presenters throughout their research and presentation process.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program

Participation in research is a vital part of the undergraduate experience at the University of Oregon. Students from across the academic disciplines can be found investigating, discovering, creating, and innovating. Research experiences allow students to explore and clarify their academic and professional goals while developing critical thinking and important workforce skills.

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program, with its campus partners, provides the largest amount of support for faculty mentored undergraduate research at the University of Oregon, giving out more than $200,000 in support annually.

Humanities Undergraduate Research Fellowship

The Humanities Undergraduate Research Fellowship program is designed to increase the research opportunities for UO undergraduate students in the academic disciplines associated with the humanities. The program immerses a cohort of students in sixteen weeks of research during the winter and spring terms.

The program is the result of a collaboration between the Oregon Humanities Center, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program, and the Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success.
