Pathway in Study abroad in Germany: Science

This pathway is designed for UO students in the yearlong TASSEP Exchange Program who are majoring in Physics, Math, Chemistry, or Biochemistry. Participating universities in German and Scandinavian Europe include:

  • Würzburg University (Germany)
  • Technische Universität Berlin (Germany)
  • Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Germany)
  • Technische Universität Wien (Austria)
  • Aarhus University (Denmark)

Interested students should work with the GEO office and the designated advisor in the relevant UO science department to determine an appropriate course of study at a European university.

Requirements for the Ger/Scan major

  1. Take GER 101-103 and 201-203 (or place out)
  1. Take 4 upper-division courses taught in German at UO (e.g. GER 311-313 and one other)
  1. Take 2 further courses at UO with a GER or SCAN subject code
  2. Take at least 24 credits taught in the German or Scandianvian language at your host university in Europe
  3. Make sure that at least 32 of your total 48 credits are at the upper division
  4. With your faculty mentor’s approval, you may also count courses abroad taught in English but that focus in whole or in large part on Germany and/or Scandinavia
  5. Consult your faculty mentor about
    1. the capstone requirement
    2. other courses to take while abroad
